MORE TIME & SPACE FOR THE WORK
Intensive EMDR Therapy in Redondo Beach
Intensive EMDR offers extended sessions for those who want more uninterrupted time for EMDR preparation, processing, and integration.
Experience deeper healing without the rush. Intensive EMDR offers 90-minute and 2-hour sessions so you have the time and space to settle into the work and process more effectively than a traditional therapy hour allows. Use intensives as part of ongoing treatment or as a focused, short-term option for specific memories, fears, or patterns you want to resolve.

What is Intensive EMDR?
Intensive EMDR is EMDR therapy offered in an extended session format, typically 90 minutes to 2 hours. The additional time allows clients to settle more fully into the therapeutic space, engage deeply in trauma processing, and complete thoughtful closure without feeling rushed. Longer sessions support sustained bilateral stimulation and reduce the need to stop mid-process, which can help maintain therapeutic momentum and integration.
This format is particularly helpful for clients working through a focused issue or a limited number of targeted memories, as it enables more coherent processing within a single visit. Practically, intensive EMDR can decrease the total number of sessions needed and provide a concentrated period for progress while preserving careful pacing, stabilization checks, and ample debriefing at the session’s end.
1
90-Minute Sessions
Longer EMDR sessions provide more uninterrupted space for preparation, processing, and integration. This can be helpful when traditional session lengths feel too brief for the work you want to do.
2
2-Hour Sessions
Two-hour EMDR sessions offer additional time to settle into the work, process at a comfortable pace, and allow space for integration before the session ends.
3
Flexible Scheduling
Intensive EMDR can be scheduled on an ongoing or as-needed basis depending on your needs and goals. Sessions can also complement ongoing therapy with another provider when appropriate.
OUR APPROACH
Extended, focused sessions that honor your pace.
At Catherine Alvarado Therapy + EMDR, our EMDR intensives provide extended, trauma-informed sessions that allow for deeper, more sustained processing without the fragmentation that can come from weekly appointments. We maintain the same careful preparation, resourcing, and and thoughtful integration used in standard EMDR, while offering more uninterrupted time to address targets comprehensively. Sessions are paced to your needs—balancing safety, grounding, reflection, and reprocessing—so healing can unfold thoroughly and with gentle attention, rather than hurriedly.
